FLORIDA AND THINGS TO DO

Florida is known as the Sunshine State with temperatures remaining high all year round. It has 1,350 miles of coastline and 10,000 miles of rivers and streams. It is the same size as the United Kingdom but has only a fifth of the population. While Florida is predominantly flat there are an abundance of citrus groves, pine forests and lakes across the whole of the State. No matter where you are in Florida you are never more than 60 miles from the sea. With a choice of Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico coastlines and their contrasting beaches there are plenty of things to see and do.

Being almost surrounded by sea and having numerous lakes Florida is ideal for swimming, surfing, fishing, water-skiing and boating. The choice in fishing is superb - deep sea, salt or freshwater.

Orlando itself is the holiday capital of the world thanks largely to the selection of Theme Parks in the area. Disney World is perhaps the best known and is a magical place to visit whatever your age. There are a choice of Disney Parks including the Magic Kingdom, MGM, Animal Kingdom and Epcot. In addition, Disney has some excellent water parks in Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Seaworld, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure also offer excellent days out. The attractions just continue to get bigger and better!

If you are looking to play a little Golf while on holiday then you are in for a treat. There are numerous golf courses within the Orlando area offering the top club house facilities and yard after yard of stunning fairways and beautiful greens. Champions gate is a must with its 2 championship courses designed by Greg Norman.

Eating out in Florida is a real joy and it's a lot cheaper than in the UK. Whether it be the "all you can eat breakfasts", a lunch at one of the Theme Park restaurants or an evening meal in one of the many restaurants situated on either the 192 or International Drive you will find excellent food at affordable prices.

In Florida shopping isn't the chore it can be at home. There are numerous Shopping Malls with scores of shops all under one roof. The Malls are all air conditioned and the parking is free. All the big names are represented in these Malls, including Reebok, GAP, Timberland, and NIKE and there are plenty of bargains to be had.

Shopping for groceries at one of the many supermarkets is also fun. The range of food counters and the "miles" of shopping aisles have to be seen to be believed. We will guarantee that you will not come back empty handed!
